Growing up, Dara was all girl; there was no hiding it. She loved making custom outfits for her dolls and even started a garment sketchbook at the age of 8. Many years later, she found herself attending the prestigious Parsons School of Design in New York City. At which time, she completed internships with the high-profile fashion houses Tess Giberson (now head of Tse Cashmere) and Michael Kors.

After leaving Parsons, she worked for such preeminent garment companies as Polo Ralph Lauren, Anthropologie, Cynthia Steffe, as well as several other smaller companies, where she was responsible for designing and performing all technical aspects of fit construction and product development. It was this time working her way through the garment world when she began to bring her critical construction knowledge into the world of film, helping actors, musicians, and on-screen personalities transform into their characters through their wardrobes. Understanding the importance of the perfect fit enables her to select items that flatter the figure, or make the adjustments to enhance the positives and conceal the negatives.

Dara recently left New York and moved to Los Angeles in order to parlay her love of fashion into a bold new jewelry line. The beauty of nature and her surroundings inspires her work, applying simplicity to her aesthetics, and letting the materials speak for themselves. Her stones have many spiritual properties, imbued by their owners, and each one is a conversation piece on its own. The line is sold at specialty and department stores nationwide, including the likes of Fred Segal and Anthropologie, and the list continues to grow. Additionally, several pieces have been featured in recent episodes of the CW network television show Privileged, as well as “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” and “Live with Regis & Kelly.”

While her jewelry line continues to expand, Dara maintains her styling work, most recently working with Jo Frost from the hit ABC television show Supernanny, as well as many personal shopping clients that have come to depend on her expertise throughout the years.
